How to get the Envy Blowdry...

Posted on

Why is it that your hair never looks as good as it does after a professional blowdry? Achieving the perfect blow-dry — an Envy Blowdry — can be frustrating, but by following some basic steps and using the right products, you’ll find that you can get salon looking hair at home.

Step 1: Pre-wash treatment

Begin by building a solid foundation to help you achieve that beautiful blowdry. Restore your hair to its very best with a pre-wash treatment, Envy Professional’s Dual Fix 12. With an intense paraben-free blend of hydrolysed silk proteins and keratin amino acids, Dual Fix delivers 12 amazing benefits and repairs damaged hair. Use as an intensive treatment to replenish and restore your hair’s natural health and vitality.

Step 2: Shampoo

A common mistake is choosing a shampoo that is too rich. Instead, opt for a gentle cleansing shampoo. Envy’s SLS/SLES and paraben-free Cleansing Shampoo will leave your hair feeling squeaky-clean and is suitable for any hair type.

Step 3: Conditioner

Good conditioners will help smooth and detangle your hair, making it easier for styling. If you want smooth or straight hair — or your hair is thick, coarse or unmanageable — try using Envy’s Detangling Conditioner all over your hair, leaving the product in for up to three minutes before rinsing. For hair in need of some serious volume, only condition the mid-lengths and ends, before rinsing immediately.

Step 4: Styling

Plan your style. If you want fuller hair, use Envy’s Big Hair Root Volumiser at the roots, and multi-tasking Style Hero to control the mid-lengths and ends. If you want smooth glossy straight hair, forget the volumiser and put the styler or Envy’s Super Oil 3 all over from roots to end. Once you’ve applied the product, rough-dry your hair. For thick, coarse or frizzy hair, remove roughly 50% of the excess water then start drying with a round brush. For fine or normal hair that needs volume, rough-dry your hair upside down until you’ve removed about 70% of the moisture. As you rough-dry, massage the roots with your fingers. Once done, throw your hair back and style with a round brush.

Step 5: Tools

Choose a good quality brush that is the correct size for your hair. When drying, remember to keep the width of each section of hair within the brush to avoid tangles. It’s important the hairdryer has enough power to smooth and dry the hair quickly, otherwise you’ll simply get frustrated and give up. The heat of the dryer should follow the brush as it moves through the hair in a downward motion.

Step 6: Finishing

After drying, wait a few seconds to let your hair settle. For fine hair, finish with a light hairspray. For thicker or curly hair, use oil to define layers or curls. Avoid brushing hair when dried; it can create static and stops hair looking textured. For volume, tip your head upside down and apply hairspray to mid-lengths and ends. Allow it to dry for a few seconds and then throw your head back before reapplying to finish.
